The Wilcox Area Chamber of Commerce welcomes Elizabeth Grimes Reaves, who will bring with her fresh enthusiasm and strong capabilities. She is excited to begin working with the Chamber members in promoting local business and events.
Reaves graduated Auburn University in 2010, with a degree in Agricultural Business and Economics. While in Auburn, Reaves volunteered for several community groups, foundations, and the Auburn Chamber of Commerce hoping to gain knowledge, skill, and new ideas to put into action in Wilcox County. She has also worked for Broadsouth Communications, First South Farm Credit, and The Auburn ISP Sports Network.
She was employed as a Sales Representative with Lamar Outdoor until deciding it was time to pursue her true passion of returning to make a difference in Wilcox County. Reaves grew up Orrville, and spent holidays and summers visiting her grandparents, Harold and Virginia Grimes, at their home in Pine Apple where she first came to appreciate Wilcox County. Since childhood she has loved the quiet country spirit of Wilcox County and considered it a place of peace and restoration.
Reaves is married to Tyson Reaves and they reside on their family farm in Camden with two Cocker Spaniels. They attend Gulletts Bluff Baptist Church. In her leisure time, she enjoys baking, repurposing and building furniture, attending area festivals and craft shows.
Reaves had been working with Alabama Tombigbee Regional Commission in Camden since December 2014. As a Case Manager for the Elderly and Disabled Medicaid Waiver Program, she was able to witness firsthand the obstacles and struggles of some people who live in rural Wilcox County.
In her position at the Chamber of Commerce, Reaves looks forward to helping implement new programs and events that will help better improve the quality of life for all area residents. She has knowledge and experience in event coordinating, corporate sponsorship, and management. She also has experience in marketing, business development, and customer service.
