Annie Mae Major, 75, of Bloomfield, known as “Sister” passed away on June 21, 2016.
Annie was born on December 23, 1940 in Camden, AL. She joined the Lutheran Church at an early age under the Leadership of Rev. Johnny Brown. Annie graduated from the Lutheran Academy in Selma, AL.  She furthered her training by becoming a C.N.A. where she worked at the J.P. Jones Hospital for many years. Annie also worked at the Shirt factory and Veeder-Root in Camdem, AL.  She left Alabama in 1981 and moved to CT where she worked several jobs before becoming an Electro-Mechanical Assembler at Otis Elevator in Windsor, CT for 27 1/2 years. In December of 2015, Annie said my job here is done and decided to retire and enjoy her gardening.  Annie enjoyed the outdoors and worked faithfully in her yard. Her yard was admired by many who passed by. Sister had the green thumb and won the “Best Landscape” contest in Bloomfield a few years ago.
Annie was preceded in death by her parents, Curry Pledger and Bella Wheeler; her loving husband, Charlie Major; seven brothers, William Bodley, Richard Bodley, Earl Pledger, Heustis Pledger, John Bodley, John Pledger, and Joe Lewis; and five sisters, Josephine, Janie, Francis, Ann, and Rose.
Annie leaves to cherish her memories three sons, Michael (Callie) Nelson of Clanton, AL, Glen (Melinda) of Bloomfield, CT, and Curtis Nelson (Rasheen McFarlane) of East Hartford, CT; three brothers, Dr. Simon (Jeannie) Bodley and Rev. Arthur (Barbara) Bodley, both of Pensacola, FL and Earnest (Fairest) Pledger of Chicago, IL; two sisters, Martha (Alvin) Foster of Hanceville, AL and  Rebecca (Rudy) Lewis of Windsor, CT; four sisters-in-law; seven grandchildren, Dalissa of East Orange, NJ, Cameron (Sherryl) of Stillwater, OK, Brandon Lewis of Hartford, CT, Kacirah of Manchester, CT, Michael (Felicia) Wiggins of Middletown, CT, Glenda Nelson of Bloomfield, CT, and Kyra Hughes of East Hartford, CT; 6 great-grandchildren, Aniyah, BJ, Braylyn, Aiden, Camdon, and Camble; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Her funeral was held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, June 27, 2016 at Grace Lutheran Church, 46 Woodland St., Hartford, CT. Burial followed in Mountain View Cemetery, Bloomfield, CT.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor, CT 06095.
