Officer Ferguson, Camden P.D., was conducting a routine patrol around Camden during the graveyard shift early Thursday morning, when at approximately 2:15 a.m., he felt the need to do a thorough inspection of Headz Outdoor Hunting & Fishing Supply off Hwy 28.

Ferguson exited his patrol vehicle behind the store after noticing something suspicious near the rear-entrance. At approximately 2:30 a.m., Ferguson contacted 911 dispatch to report a possible B&E (Breaking and Entering).

The rear door had been tampered with, indicative of an attempted break-in. The steel along the outer edges of the door was warped in such a pattern to assume a crowbar, or some other prying mechanism was utilized.

Also, Ferguson counted six, 2 c.m. wide bullet holes near the locking mechanism.

The store’s owner, Warren Dailey, was called and informed of the situation. He arrived at approximately 2:52 a.m.

Dailey allowed Officer Ferguson into the store through the front door. The alarm had not been triggered.

Searching for evidence, Ferguson and Dailey found 2 bullet slugs on the floor approx. 5-8 feet from the back door.

It appeared as if no merchandise had been stolen, and the attempts to break-in were unsuccessful.

However, after investigating the outside, left corner of the business, Ferguson noticed a small window had been busted out of an exterior utility shed.

Ferguson called a backup partner, Officer Brown, to the scene. They both scoured the area near the rear-entrance in search for clues.

What they found were six (6) shell casings from a 9mm handgun. The shells were taken as evidence, and will be processed for fingerprints.
