BREAKIN

By Ethan Van Sice

At least two local businesses and two residential dwellings were broken into with items stolen and property damaged in a span of 24 hours last week.

The crimes began at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday when Millie Harvell’s home off Hwy. 28W was invaded by an unknown suspect(s). The thieves stole a Torro mower with Huskvarna motor, along with its trailer. They also reportedly stole a television and other valuables from inside the house.

Millie says this is the 2nd time in 3 years a break-in has occurred at her home. “(I) don’t feel safe in my home anymore. So sad that you have to worry about all of the valuables that you worked hard for being taken! An emotional roller coaster you definitely don’t want to ride.”

A break-in at Headz Outdoor and Fishing Supply (barely a mile from Millie’s home) was also attempted late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. At approximately 2:15 a.m Officer Ferguson of Camden P.D. called dispatch to report a possible “breaking and entering”, after noticing 6 bullet holes in the business’ back door.

No merchandise was stolen from inside the store, as the thieves were unable to get in. However, they were able to get away with a window A/C unit after successfully breaking into a small storage shed on the left, exterior of the building. Camden P.D. collected bullet casings from a 9mm handgun on the scene….(READ ABOUT THE TWO OTHER INCIDENTS!) on page 1 and 2 of our E-Edition.
