Camden Baptist Church celebrates Jeannie Newsom’s 46 years of service

Camden Baptist Church will honor Jeannie Newsome this Sunday, August 21 during the morning Worship service which begins at 10:30 a.m. and later at a Retirement Reception from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m. The community is invited to celebrate Jeannie’s forty-six years of selfless service to Christ and His Church.
Jeannie, daughter of Ben and Margaret Newsom, was born and raised in Camden. She graduated from Wilcox County High School in 1969. After the departure of Rev. Berkley Webb in 1970, Minister of Music, Ramon Carden, asked Jeannie if she would work as a temporary church secretary until a permanent position could be filled. She began serving on August 5, 1970, only five months before the beloved Dr. Tommy Davis moved to Camden to become Pastor. Jeannie delightfully recalled that after ten years, she became the permanent secretary. In addition to Brother Tommy, she has worked alongside Dr. Eddie Davidson, Rev. Jay Spiller, Dr. Joe Cole, Rev. Bob Weber and Rev. Chris Wells during the last forty-six years.
In addition to serving with Minister of Music Ramon Carden, she also assisted Jere Adams, Larry Futral, Andy White and Will Philpot. If that were not enough, she has also worked with ten different….(READ THE FULL ARTICLE on page 3 of our E-Edition!)
