Re-opening Celebration this weekend at Roland Cooper State Park

This Sunday, Roland Cooper State Park will hold it’s official Re-opening from 3-7 p.m. with a fun day for the entire family. Wilcox Central High School JROTC will be giving a presentation of the flags and Pledge of Allegiance. Bailey Jordan Aguiar will the singing the National Anthem. Music will be provided from 4 – 6 p.m. by Rebecca Vick, Crum Cook, Zack Kennedy, Frank Buckner and Trey Staudenmeir. At 6:00 p.m. Rick Carter and Kyle Kimbrell will be performing. Clete and Peggy Verhoff will be making homemade ice cream. John and Kim Gibson the “turtle rescuers” from Buena Vista will be at the park with examples of Galopogas tortoises. The Auburn University Extension Service will be at the park with an exhibit of “Skulls and Skins”, showing the different types of animal skins and skills to teach children about types of wildlife. They will also be making sun braclets to teach about the importance of being safe in the sun. There will be lots of activities for the entire family. Everyone is invited to come out, bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the afternoon. The new managers Ed and Lanette Jones, managers with RMR, look forward to meeting and answering any questions about the park.
