Anna Hutto Henderson

1927 – 2016

Anna Henderson, of Birmingham, Alabama, died on September 11, 2016 after a lengthy illness. She was born in Jasper, Alabama and was one of three children of the late John W. Hutto and Abbie Cranford Hutton. She attended Auburn University where she met her husband, Donald Robert Henderson, on a blind date. After their marriage she moved from Jasper to Millers Ferry, Alabama, where she spent the next 50-plus years as a homemaker and wife. In 2003, after the death of her husband, she announced her retirement from “cooking and cleaning” and moved to Birmingham, Alabama where she lived until her death. She was fiercely protective of her five boys. She loved to paint, read and hardly ever resisted the urge to express her feelings and opinions on any number of topics. Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Robert Henderson, her son, Michael Turner Henderson, her brother John Terrell Hutto and her sister Rebecca (Reba) Hutto Kent. She is survived by her sons Donald Robert (Bob) Henderson, Jr. of Birmingham, John Hutto Henderson of Prairie, Richard Alan Henderson of Birmingham, and Frank Henderson of Frankfort, KY. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren with another great-grandson due soon. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 24 at 1:00 p.m. in Camden, Alabama at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that any donations be made to First Presbyterian Church of Camden, PO Box 242, Camden, AL 36726.
