Susan “Susie” Minus Tait was born in York, Alabama on December 8, 1961 and was a lifetime resident of Sumter County, Alabama. Susie passed away from this life on December 27, 2016 at DCH Regional Medical Center after a 19-year courageous battle with cancer.
Susie graduated from Sumter Academy and obtained her BS and MA in Education from the University of Alabama. Susie taught in the Brent and Linden School System until she retired.
She loved the outdoors, enjoyed waterskiing on the Tombigbee River and riding horses on the family farm.
Susie was a lifelong member of Cedar Grove Presbyterian Church in Epes, Alabama. She loved God, family, friends and life. Susie was determined and “beat the odds” with her zest for life.
She was loved very much and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Susie was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Jackson Minus. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Porter E. “Ted” Tait, III; daughter, Jacqueline “Jackie” Christine Renfroe; mother, Patricia Josephine “Pat” Minus; sister, Martha Jo Minus; brother, Joseph Jackson “Jay” Minus, Jr. (Nancy); nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family received friends at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, December 30, 2016 at the Epes Community Center.
The funeral service began at 11 a.m. at Cedar Grove Presbyterian Church with Rev. Tim Craddock and Rev. Jake Duke officiating. Burial follow ed in Hennigan Cemetery.
Pallbearers for Susie were Timothy Ray Tait, Sylvester Pratt, Preston C. “Trey” Minus, III, Joseph Taylor Minus, Matthew Collier Minus and Joseph Jackson Minus, III.
