Willie Louise Grace was born December 2, 1934 in Allenton, Alabama to Mary Ella Montgomery Grace and Theodore Roosevelt Grace.
Willie confessed hope in Christ at Salem A. M. E. Church as a young child. Willie was a faithful servant to her church and dedicated that time serving as Usher Board President until her health failed.
Willie was a 1953 graduate of Pine Apple High School. After completion of high school, she attended Alabama State University, where she met and married the late Everett W. Towns. After living the military life for several years with her husband, Willie decided to return to home to continue her education by attending Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, and later graduated from Alabama State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education.
Willie was born to become a teacher being raised by parents and maternal grandparents who were educators. Willie started her educator’s journey as a substitute teacher at Pine Apple High School and W. J. Jones High School, later to became employed by the Wilcox County Board of Education. Willie spent Twenty-Five years as a Kindergarten Teacher at J. E. Hobbs Elementary, giving students their basic foundation to transition to the net grade. She was known for being a caring and a soft=hearted teacher, loved by many. Willie decided in 2001 that it was time to enjoy the fruits of her labor by retiring to spend time with her grandsons and other family members.
Willie is preceded in death by her loving parents, Theodore Roosevelt Grace and Mary Ella Montgomery Grace, brother, Travis Grace, sisters-in-law, Wanda Grace and Eunice Gray, son, Colvin Cutrell Towns, and grandson, Terry Bernard Towns.
Willie departed this earthly life, Wednesday evening, but God knows best. Her memories will always be remembered by her son, Charles Bernard Towns, Allenton, Alabama; daughter, Mary Louise (Henry) Finklea, Allenton, Alabama; grandsons, Henry Le-Andre’ Finklea, Jr., Yigo, Guam, Jordan Hunter Finklea, Allenton, Alabama, Colvin (Johlene) Towns, Darrell (Lassandra) Towns, granddaughter-in-law Pamela Towns, Birmingham, Alabama, and step-granddaughter, Veronica Cage, Montgomery, AL; great-grandchildren, Angelo, Alexander, Katlyn, Jordan, Kiyah, Carlos, Shaventa and Kevie; one brother, Sam Grace, Cincinnati,, OH; sister-in-law, Verdell Grace, Greensboro, NC; and numerous nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.
