ESCAPED INMATE found & re-captured less than a mile from prison

The Wilcox Count Sheriff’s office began searching for an inmate who escaped from the Work Release Center on 1780 AL-221 at approximately 3:20 this morning. County Deputies, along with Camden City PD arrived promptly to the facility’s aid.

A team of trained search dogs and their handlers began to patrol the the wooded areas surrounding it.

That inmate, authorities say, is now in custody.

Public Relations Director Bob Horton, released a Recapture Report this morning….

Michael Oneal Bynum was captured near the gravel pit on Hwy 221 at approximately 4:26 A.M, less than a mile away from the prison. Captain Gilchrist made the arrest.

Bynum, 25, was serving a 20 year sentence on a 2nd Degree Burglary charge for a crime committed in Morgan County in November 2011.
