BREAKING: Double Homicide; CHIEF’S REPORT

On the night of September 26, 2017 at approximately 10:35 p.m. officer Brent McGuffee received a call regarding shots being fired in the area of CO RD 18.

After patrolling the area, officers were unable to hear or make contact with anyone shooting.  At 12:21 a.m. Officer MCGuffee, Deputy Demarco Cottrell and Task Force One Larry Colston responded to another call regarding two male subjects found shot at the residence of Charles Mallory at 66 Violet Ln.

Once officers arrived on scene, Investigator Sgt. Donnie Floyd and I, Chief Nikisha Gailes was also notified and arrived on scene.  After observing a male subject identified as LLoyd Carson in the driver’s seat of his vehicle with what appeared to be gunshot wounds to the neck and chest/shoulder area, Wilcox County Coroner Mark Ramsey was notified, arrived, and pronounced Carson dead on scene.

We were also made aware of another subject identified as Charles Mallory, who had also been shot.   Mallory was located lying on his bed in his residence with a gunshot wound to the head.

He was airlifted to Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery, AL. but was later transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham, AL the following day where he succumbed to his injuries from gunshot wound to the head, which caused a non-surviving injury to the brain.
