Gladys Voncile Long age 84 of Sweet Water, AL died October 24, 2017 at Thomasville Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born March 29, 1933 in Clarke County, AL to Lamar Austin and Willie Mae Williams. She was a former seamstress, merchant and hospital volunteer. She was a member of Old Union Baptist Church in Sweet Water, AL.

She is survived by her two sons, Tommie Lamar Anderson and Clifton Craig Anderson, Sr.; daughter, Vanessa Jane Stephens; eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Charles Long, Jr.; parents, Lamar Austin and Willie Mae Williams; two sons, David Darell Anderson and James Woodie Anderson; brother, Grady Williams; six sisters, Elsie Smith, Nora Newsom, Juanita Walker, Irene Vaughn, Dot Harrison, and Annell Yoder; two grandchildren, Derek Stoudenmier and Sarah Anderson.

Funeral services were held at Old Union Baptist Church on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Andy Etheredge, Rev. Thomas Anderson, and Rev. Mike Brening officiating. Burial was in the Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Sweet Water, AL.

Active Pallbearers were: Rex Leonard, Trey Cook, Thomas Anderson, Tommy Goff, Clifford Huggins, Larry Dyess.

Honorary Pallbearers were: Members of Old Union Baptist Church.
