Lt. Col., Ret. Mary Jane Philpot

Lt. Col., Ret. Mary Jane Philpot, age 75, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2018. She was born on August 29, 1942, in McWilliams, Alabama to Junius Bradford Philpot and Nancy Ann Hopkins Philpot.

Miss Philpot was a resident of DeFuniak Springs, Florida. She was a member of First Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs. She joined the United States Air Force in January of 1968 and retired as Lieutenant Colonel after 20 years of dedicated service in January of 1988. Her honors in the U.S. Air Force include: Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Oak Leaf Cluster, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Ribbon—Short Tour, Air Force Overseas Ribbon—Long Tour, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with four Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Air Force Training Ribbon.
Miss Philpot was preceded in death by her father and mother.
Miss Philpot is survived by her brother Will (Beth) Philpot of Camden, Alabama, and two sisters, Martha P. (Tim) Taylor of Frisco City, Alabama, and Gloria P. (Thomas) Thurman of Columbia, Mississippi.
A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 ~ 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Camden Baptist Church, 300 Broad Street, Camden, Alabama 36726.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Camden Baptist Church with Reverend Thomas Thurman and Reverend Chris Wells officiating.
Burial with military funeral honors will follow in the Camden Cemetery.
