Mr. Moody Marion Maness, Sr., age 86, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2018 at his home.
Mr. Maness was born in Flatwoods, AL, but moved to Coy, AL at a young age. Mr. Maness worked in law enforcement in Wilcox County for 19 years and served as Wilcox County Sheriff for 1 year. Mr. Maness moved to Monroeville in 1982 where he retired from Georgia Pacific in the security department. Mr. Maness was a mason and a member of the Vredenburg Baptist Church.
Preceded in death by his parents, L.C. and Clara Maness, a brother, Willard Maness, a sister, Erma Jean Ward, his grandson, Kyle Thomas, his great-grandson, Trenton Thomas and a son-in-law, Kirven Thomas.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mary Maness of Monroeville, AL; his son, Moody (Icey) Maness, Jr. of Goodway, AL; three daughters, Dinah (Mike) Fuller of Excel, AL, Malisa (Brent) Williams of Pensacola, FL, and Daphne (Darrell) McKinley of Excel, AL; a brother, Osman Maness of Camden, AL; a sister, Ernestine Thompson of Brundidge, AL; 22 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Coy Cemetery in Coy, AL.
