Betty Sue Newsom

Betty Sue Newsom, age 65, died peacefully in her home in Camden, Alabama on March 30, 2019. She was a life long resident of Camden and a 1971 graduate of Wilcox County High School. She earned an Associates Degree in Data Processing from Patrick Henry Community College, and upon graduation, she was employed with Camden National Bank, where she worked for 45 years until retirement this past September. Betty Sue held many positions over the years and was loved and valued by her fellow workers.
Betty Sue was an active member of the Camden Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, served on the Finance committee, and enjoyed participation in Bible Study groups. She also enjoyed spending her vacation time with the children at Camden Baptist Vacation Bible School. Betty Sue was an avid reader and a dedicated Alabama fan.
She is preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Franklin Newsom; maternal grandparents, James A. and Sarah McKenzie, and Paternal grandparents, Otha and Eula Newsom. She is survived by her mother, Margaret McKenzie Newsom and her sister, Doris Jean Newsom, both of Camden.
Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 2 at Camden Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. led by Brother Eddie Davidson with Brother Chris Wells and Brother Reid Nettles assisting. Interment will be at Canton Bend Cemetery. Services directed by Dunklin Daniels Funeral Home.
Active Pallbearers will be Jarrett Vick, Braxton Vick, Will Philpot, Al Johnson, Josh Morgan, and Allen Peterson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Henry McIntosh, Ted Tait, Tim Tait, Dudly Handly, Frank McGraw, Butch King, Les Johnson, and Bryant Pearson.
