(BREAKING) Shekita Jenkins Pleads ‘Guilty’ to Wire Fraud

The former Chief Clerk at the Wilcox County Probate Office accused of embezzling over $18k has entered into a Plea Agreement as of September 26th, 2019.

Shekita Jenkins (a.k.a. Shekita Myles) pleads GUILTY to Count One of the Indictment, charging a violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1343, Wire Fraud.

Jenkins admitted in open court to the following description and narrative of the indicted charge:

In October 2017, Jenkins became Chief Clerk at the Wilcox County Probate Office in Camden, Alabama, a position of public trust. As Chief Clerk, from February 2018 to May 2018, Jenkins willfully and knowingly executed and attempted to execute a scheme in the Southern District of Alabama to defraud the Wilcox County Probate Office and achieve personal financial gain ($18,219.94) by means of materially false and fraudulent pretenses, representations and promises. Jenkins acted with intent to defraud. As part of her scheme to defraud, Jenkins withdrew funds under fraudulent pretenses from the Wilcox County Probate Office and then used these funds for personal expenditures, which included plastic surgery procedures in Georgia, without proper authorization.

The maximum penalty the Court could impose is up to 20 years imprisonment, or a fine not to exceed $250,000. Jenkins will also be expected to pay restitution to the Wilcox County Probate Office in the amount of $18,219.94.
