Four (4) Employees Test Positive at Camden Nursing Facility

Eldridge Stewart, Administrator of Camden Nursing Facility, released the following statement today after news broke of more positive coronavirus cases:

“As previously reported, a Camden Nursing Facility employee tested positive for COVID-19. Upon learning of the test results on March 31, 2020, the facility implemented additional precautions for its residents and staff. On April 2, 2020, the facility was notified that three additional employees tested positive for COVID-19. They are receiving appropriate medical care and have not worked since exhibiting symptoms. At this time, no residents have tested positive for COVID-19. We have notified the Alabama Department of Public Health and are following appropriate directives from the CDC and federal and state authorities. We continue to monitor our residents closely and screen all employees and vendors prior to entering the building. Camden Nursing Facility appreciates the understanding of our residents and their families during this time. We are grateful for our dedicated employees who are going above and beyond the call of duty to care for and protect our residents.”
The Wilcox County Commission was informed of the new cases this morning during an Emergency Meeting.
The body moved to implement a curfew, starting tonight, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
A penalty up to $500 with 90 days in jail could be handed down to anyone caught out in public during these hours.
After reevaluating yesterday’s closure of the courthouse due to possible COVID-19 exposure of an employee, Chairman Albritton made a recommendation to extend the closure until next Monday, April 6th. During this time, both the annex and the courthouse would be cleaned.
