Bobbie Jean Gardner Terry died on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at the age of 86. Bobbie was born on June 9, 1934 in Uniontown, Alabama to Robert Gardner and Nora Lee Walker Gardner. She married Jadie Howell Terry on June 1, 1952 in Uniontown, Alabama.
Bobbie made a career in secretarial work and bookkeeping. She was secretary for Camden Baptist Church and then for Wilcox County High School. She later became City Clerk for the town of Camden. In 1975, she and her husband moved back home to Perry County, Alabama at which time she became a central office bookkeeper for Marion City Schools and later Perry County Board of Education. In 1994, she retired from Perry County Board of Education where she had served for 19 years.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Shirley Gardner Lightsey (Walter); and her great-grandson, Pope Albritton Terry.
She is survived by two sons, Steven Kenneth Terry (Peggy) of Camden, AL and Dennis Howell Terry (Tammy) of Gulf Shores, AL; nine grandchildren, Regina Terry Barr (Rob), Steve Terry (Wesley Ann), Mason Terry (Carol), Rachael Terry Hughey (Kyle), Robert Terry, Stephanie Terry O’Mary (Chase), Kyle Ray (Phoebe), Brandon Ray, and Brittni Ray Harris (Matt); 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services were held Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery in Marion, Alabama with Reverend Dee McGuire officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes, Marion Chapel directing. Pallbearers were Ronald Barnett, Rob Barr, Kyle Hughey, Chase O’Mary, Mason Terry and Steve Terry.
