Marion McIntosh

August 29, 1953 – March 16, 2021

Marion McIntosh was born on August 29, 1953 to the late George W. and Dolia (Liddell) McIntosh in Chestnut, AL. He joined our Heavenly Father on March 16, 2021.
He confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. Matthew Baptist Church in Chestnut, AL, where in later years he served as a Deacon until his death.
In 1972, Marion graduated from J. F. Shields High School in Beatrice, AL. Following high school, he attended Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, North Carolina, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Science. He later received a Master of Arts Degree from University of West Alabama in Livingston, Alabama and an Education Specialist Degree from Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama.
In 1977, he started his career as an educator in the Monroe County School System – having taught at Monroe Junior High School in Monroeville, Al; Monroe Senior High School in Lower Peachtree, Alabama; Frisco City High School in Frisco City, Alabama; J.F. Shields High School in Beatrice, Alabama. He coached the 1994 boys’ basketball team of J. F. Shields High School to a State Championship. He later became Principal of J. F. Shields High School, where he remained until his retirement. In 2012, he retired from the Monroe County School System after 35 years of service. In May 2017, he was inducted into the J.F. Shields High School – Monroe County Training School Hall of Fame. He later became a public servant, serving the people of Wilcox County as Commissioner from 2014 to 2018.
He was preceded in death by his Father, George W. McIntosh; Mother, Dolia (Liddell) McIntosh; Wife, Georgia (Colston) McIntosh; three sisters: Virgia M. Stallworth, Mary I. Spencer, and Rachel Ratcliffe; two brothers: Cylister McIntosh and Christopher C. McIntosh.
Left to cherish his memory are four sons: Marion S. McIntosh of Leeds, AL; Roberus McIntosh of Birmingham, AL; Quantun Richardson of Jacksonville, FL; Alex House of College Station, TX; one daughter: Brittney McIntosh of Brandywine, MD; one grandson: Zavier Richardson of Jacksonville, FL; and one stepson: Caleb Colston of Huntsville, AL; his fiancée: Mary McCreary of Beatrice, AL; seven sisters: Lizzie L. Hollingsworth of Birmingham, AL; Ethel L. Hutchins of Stedman, NC; Frankie P. (Clarence) Boswell of Birmingham, AL; Dolia M. (Horace) Patterson of Talladega, AL; Betty L. Lee of Pensacola, FL; Alberta Reynolds of Montgomery, AL; and Thelma Kennedy of Beatrice AL; two brothers: George (Lena) McIntosh of Birmingham, AL, and Melvin (Brenda) McIntosh of Beatrice, AL; one brother-in-law: Essitt L. Ratcliffe of Birmingham, AL; one sister-in-law: Lorenza McIntosh of Camden, AL, and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins and friends.
