Harris Matthews Riggs, age 83, of Camden passed away February 4, 2022 at Montrose Health and Rehab in Fairhope, AL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Edwin Browning Riggs and Hattie Matthews Riggs. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carol Ann Rittenberry Riggs, daughters Amanda (Tom) Albritton, Martha Hunter (Kyle) Eskridge, grandchildren Hunter Albritton, James Albritton, Abigail Eskridge, Owen Eskridge, and Ike Eskridge. He is also survived by his sister, Sarah Emma Riggs.
Harris was born on April 12, 1938 in Camden. He graduated from Wilcox County High School in Camden where he lettered in basketball, baseball and football. He was an Eagle Scout. He attended the University of Alabama where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. He graduated from Troy University with a degree in accounting, and later obtained an MBA from Auburn University in Montgomery. He was an accountant with MacMillan Bloedel until his retirement.
He was a member of the Camden United Methodist Church and was a member of the choir.
After living in Camden and Tuscaloosa, he and his wife Carol Ann moved to Fairhope, AL to be close to family: his daughter Martha Hunter and her family, as well as his sister, Sarah Emma.
He lived a full life, loved his family and his community, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
