John Earl Sheffield

John Earl Sheffield, age 77, passed away Friday, March 11, 2022 in his home surrounded by his family. Mr. Sheffield was born in Wilcox County, AL., and was a resident of Excel for 37 years. John had a lifelong and rewarding career in the construction industry as Civil Superintendent for B.E. & K. Construction Company. He was a dedicated family man; he was a loving husband, devoted father, and loved his “precious” grandchildren and great grandchildren and was always there for his family and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Maggie Dell Sheffield; his brothers, Rev. Walter L. Sheffield, Fred Sheffield, and William “Bill” Sheffield; his brothers-in-law, Sam Bender, Moody Maness, and Carl McGraw.

Survived by: his wife of 50 years, Betty J. Sheffield; three sons, Martin (Ginger) Sheffield, Wesley (Elva) Sheffield and Joshua (Israel) Sheffield; three daughters, Janine (Curt) Harrelson, Suzanne (Bryan) Luker, and Jennifer (Allen) Nall; his sisters, Emmie Lou Bender, Sally McGraw, and Mary Alice Maness; Seventeen grandchildren; and Eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 14, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Monroe Chapel with Rev. Tommy Primm officiating. Burial will follow at Coy Cemetery in Coy, AL. Visitation will be on Monday, March 14th from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Monroe Chapel.
