James Preston Vick III, 77, of Camden, Alabama, passed away on February 8, 2023 at his home surrounded by family. The family received friends on Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Dunklin Funeral Home in Camden, Alabama. Graveside Services were held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Camden Cemetery located at 209 Broad St.
James Preston Vick III was born in Sedan, Alabama to parents James and Ernestine on February 20, 1945. He attended Wilcox County High School.
After high school, he served in the United States Army. He married Barbara Ann Sheffield on May 7, 1973. He worked at Georgia-Pacific Corporation for 33 years. He was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served in many capacities. He was a lifelong supporter of Wilcox Academy where he was actively involved as a football & baseball coach as well as Athletic Association President for many years. As he always said he would, he took his final breath in the same place he took his first….in his favorite place, at the bottom of the hill in Sedan, Alabama.
Mr. Vick is preceded in death by his parents, James Preston Vick Jr and Ernestine McIntosh Maness, sister, Trudy Maxine Dunnam, and brother, Clifford Osman Maness Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Barbara Ann Vick, children; Marcus Shane Vick (Leah), Jarrett Scott Vick (Margaret), Caroline Vick Brooks (Robert), Patrick Ryan Vick (Beth), Gaylin Nichole Evans (Andrix), James Preston Vick IV, 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Caralie Robinson, Carley Sue Hinson, Mike Vick and Phil Maness.
