Doris McMurria Luker, age 92, of Camden, Alabama passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Southeast Medical Center in Dothan, Alabama.
Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Camden Methodist Church with Reverend Braxton Etheridge officiating and Dunklin Funeral Home of Camden directing. The family received friends for visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Elijah Bob Luker; her parents, Ben Hill and Lettie Wilson McMurria.
She is survived by her three daughters, Janet Luker Gaston, Rebecca Lynn Luker Hayward, Barbara Luker (Richard Knight); six grandchildren, Angela Gaston Pharr (Ron Pharr), James Hayward (Shasta Haynes), Lori Leigh Gaston Haddock (Henry Collier Haddock), Ashley Hayward (Jennifer Hayward), April Knight Lucas (Johnathan Lucas), Amber Knight and ten great grandchildren.
Doris was born December 28, 1930 in Jacksonville, Florida to Lettie Wilson McMurria and Ben Hill McMurria. She graduated from Wilcox County High School and attended Alabama College (University of Montevallo). After many years working with the Alabama Sheriffs Boy Ranch in Minter, Alabama, she retired and enjoyed traveling throughout the United States.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Camden Methodist Church.
