Tammy Burks Myers
Tammy Burks Myers, 66, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her beloved daughters, brother, and sister-in-law on Sunday, May 17, 2026. She is survived by her loving husband Scottie Dewayne Myers, daughters Robbie Starling Champion and Esther Scott Workman Durkin (Brendan), mother Barbara Ann Starling Neal, father Ralph Waldo Burks Jr., and brother Ralph Waldo “Bo” Burks III (Farrow).
Tammy was born in Troy, Alabama on July 2, 1959. She graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in Montgomery in 1977 and from Troy State University with honors in 1981. During her time at Troy, Tammy was a proud majorette in Dr. John Long’s Sound of the South Marching Band, a member of the student newspaper staff, and was a Delta Kappa Epsilon “little sister.” With a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, Tammy enjoyed a successful career in newspaper advertising working for the Montgomery Advertiser, The Clarion-Ledger, and the Newspaper Association of America. She ended her career as the Vice President of Business Development for the Association of Clinical Research Professionals.
A memorial service honoring Tammy’s life was held on Tuesday, May 26 at 12 p.m. (CT) at the First Presbyterian Church in Camden, Alabama. Her family received visitors at 11 a.m.
