William Franklin “Frank” Chapman, age 77 and a resident of Camden, passed away Sunday afternoon May 26, 2024.
Funeral services were Friday, May 31, 2024 at the Camden Baptist Church at 11:00. Visitation was held prior to the service at 10:00 AM. Pastor Justin Nelson will be officiating with Dunklin Funeral Home directing.
He was born November 7, 1946 and spent his early years in Vredenburgh before the Chapmans moved to Camden. He graduated from Wilcox County High School in 1965. He attended Troy State University for a year before marrying the love of his life, Gala Couch in August, 1966. He continued his education at trade school before moving home to Camden to work for MacMillan Bloedel. Later he joined his father, Ed Chapman, to open and operate Chapman Hardwoods. He was active in all phases of the business until the mill closed. He also served in the Alabama National Guard for over a decade. Frank was a member of Camden Baptist Church where he was elected deacon for several terms. He enjoyed teaching boys Sunday School class where he made a positive impact on the boys who came through his class.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Sarah Chapman, and his sister Beth Chapman Philpot.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Gala Couch Chapman, several nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
Pallbearers were Cody Couch, Sam Felts, Roger Pettway, Brad Philpot, Will Philpot, Sefk Alexander, Ben Alexander and Jimmy Womack.
