Gregg Johnson

Gregg Johnson, originally from Monroeville, passed away on August 19 at the age of 81.
Gregg was born on August 7, 1944 to Gregg (Sr.) and Hilda Johnson. He spent time in Monroeville, Hybart, and Camden as a child. He graduated from the University of Alabama, then served as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. He met his future wife, Cilla, after returning home in 1970. They married in January 1971, settled near Atlanta, and had their only son in 1975.
Gregg was a mechanical engineer and obtained an MBA from Georgia State University. In 1986, he started Johnson, Spellman, & Associates with his partner Skip. Together, they grew the business into a 40-person engineering firm.
Gregg loved the outdoors, spending many weekends sailing with friends. He also enjoyed fly fishing in North Georgia and on frequent trips to California, Montana, and Alaska.
He was an active member of the congregations at Mountain Park UMC (Lilburn, GA) and later St Paul UMC (Gainesville, GA). As a man of humility and service, Gregg volunteered on several committees at both churches and served on numerous mission trips.
Gregg is survived by his wife Cilla, along with his brother Kelly (Debbie) Johnson, son Gregg (Molly) Johnson, and three grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents Gregg (Sr.) and Hilda Johnson, along with his brother Andy Johnson.
Services will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery at 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive in Canton, Georgia on Monday, September 8th at 12:00pm.
